Inform
NAFCS members of policies and/or legislation at the local, state, and national
levels
that relate to (a) improving quality of life for individuals, families and
communities
and (b)
family and consumer sciences as a profession.
Objective
A: To build and strengthen relationships
with policy leaders, policy makers,
governmental
personnel and with members
Activities:
--Hold a legislative workshop with FCSTN for members so that
personal
contacts
with legislators and policy leaders can be made.–President

–Send
copies of the newsletter to appropriate political leaders and policy makers
when

Activities:
–Reserve a
section of the newsletter to inform members about legislation.

Articulate
the mission, scope, contribution and importance of family and consumer sciences
to the membership, other professionals, employers, policy makers and the
general

Objective
A: To communicate contributions of family
and consumer sciences in improving
the quality of life for Nebraskans and their families.
Activities:
–Identify
through news releases and newsletters what is being accomplished
by NAFCS
members.–Recognition
–Recognize
organizations and corporations with the Friend of NAFCS Award
as
determined by the Executive Council.–Recogntion
Objective B: To communicate and
cooperate on common interest and goals with other
professional
groups.
Activities:
-When
appropriate, send copies of the newsletter to other professional
organizations

and communicate with other groups and coalitions having common
interests

Activities:

member will seek out potential FCS professionals in their local
communities,
provide them with information about the diverse career

within the profession and encourage them to consider a
career in

A: To provide opportunities for members
to study new information related to
family
and consumer sciences.
Activities:

upcoming programs related to family and consumer sciences subject matter

a research section in the newsletter highlighting new information and
current

published reports of graduate and other
research
published by members.

and distribute membership campaign packets to each SU chapter
across

-“Adopt a Student Campaign” will be
introduced which encourages professionals
to

A: Provide programs and publications that
will assist members in
updating
new knowledge and skills and promote ethical professional behavior.
Activities:

annual meeting sessions of such educational value that members will be enticed
to

B: Stimulate interest in professional
development by recognizing members who have made outstanding contributions to
the profession.
Activities:
-Inform members about the continuing education scholarships
offered by NAFCS to
active

institutions and Pre-Professional/Graduate
members
about the availability of scholarships for student members.-Scholarship
-Select
scholarship winners, inform applicants about the status of their applications,
present
scholarships at the Annual Meeting, and submit news releases regarding
scholarships

professions:

through a donation to the AAFCS Foundation or other appropriate
